trouble installing suse on aptiva 2140...

Hi all.

has anyone tried installing suse 8.1 on an aptiva 2140 L5h? I tried for the past 20 hrs., and suse keeps hanging early-on in the install process. my machine config is at bare minimum; i stripped out all hardware i added over the past few
years. not even suse tech support could help me, as they are also out of ideas... if anyone could throw me a lifeline, i'd sure be grateful. many thanks from someone who will shortly be using my distro as a colorful paperweight. regards, R.L

P.S. my bios version is BLXUS4M; ram=288Mb; PII 333 Mz

you need to tell us at what stage system hangs, so you can identify what the problem may be, (graphics, hdd controler, some pci device, or chipset..)
