Trouble installing Linux Mandrake 7.0

I'm having trouble installing Mandrake 7.0. Everything works just fine, except when it comes to the CD-ROM drive. It asks to select which drive to be installed. My drive isn't listed on the list. It just a regular Sony CD RW, and there is a Sony on the hardware list Mandrake supplies during the install, but my drive is I guess a newer version than the one listed. There's no conflicts, or failures, or anything like that, it's just that my drive isn't listed as one of the available drives for Mandrake to install the drivers, so the installation stops. I'm sure there's an easy way around this, I'm just too inexperienced to figure it out. Can anyone help? Thanks.

mandrake 7.0 is crippingly old. you'll probably hate it compared to the shiny modern distros... do yourself a favour and bin it, and get something released in the 21st century.
