trouble installing firefox

anishkaul; i followed your instructions. i got a message: no such file exists. thanks. i have had enough of this for noe. i'm going to buy a new computer. it shouldn't be this hard even for a newbie to download and install a file.
apparently Linux is only for tech geeks and coders, not for people who simply want to use it as a tool. thanks; goodbye

You can give it one last try !

If the message says "file not found", could you post the *exact* error message here:
and the
output of the command ls -l from the directory where you got the error, and also what command you tried to execute there.

It is not all that difficult {IF YOU ARE INTERESTED ENOUGH} !!

Sorry to hear of your frustrating experience. The "Xandros" distro that comes pre-installed on the Asus eee-pc's is extremely outdated. It is not a good choice if you need the latest software (like Firefox 3.6). You could have easily solved your problem by installing an up-to-date distribution like Ubuntu, Fedora, Mandriva, etc. I hope you will not judge all Linux distros based on your one bad experience with Xandros. :)
