trouble installing compiz

Hi all, I'm having a bit of trouble installing Compiz.

Here is what I'm trying to do:

Code:
suse:/home/josh/Desktop # smart install compiz
Loading cache...
Updating cache... ######################################## [100%]

Computing transaction...
error: Can't install compiz-0.3.6-19.1@i586: no package provides libpng12.so.0(PNG12_0)

suse:/home/josh/Desktop #
Then I try to install libpng and I get this:

Code:
suse:/home/josh/Desktop # smart install libpng*
Loading cache...
Updating cache... ######################################## [100%]

Computing transaction...

Upgrading packages (1):
  libpng3-2:1.2.13-1mdv2007.1@i586

Removing packages (16):
  arts-devel-1.5.1-15@i586
  hk_classes-devel-0.8-15@i586
  kdeaddons3-kicker-3.5.1-18@i586
  kdebase3-3.5.1-69.32@i586
  kdegraphics3-3.5.1-23.9@i586
  kdegraphics3-devel-3.5.1-23@i586
  kdelibs3-devel-3.5.1-49.15@i586
  kdelibs3-devel-doc-3.5.1-47@noarch
  kdemultimedia3-3.5.1-20.pm.0@i586
  kdemultimedia3-devel-3.5.1-20@i586
  kdemultimedia3-video-3.5.1-20.pm.0@i586
  knoda-devel-0.8-15@i586
  koffice-devel-1.4.2-25@i586
  libpng-devel-1.2.8-17@i586
  qt3-devel-3.3.5-58@i586
  qt3-devel-doc-3.3.5-58@noarch

234.6kB of package files are needed. 418.6MB will be freed.

Confirm changes? (Y/n):
I've tried selecting yes and it screwed a lot of this up.

Thanks for any help

Ok I know nothing about Compiz, but I can explain what the deal with libpng is.

Your Suse machine has a libpng. It's prety much an essential. If you try to install anther libpng, the install will first remove the old libpng and all packages dependant on libpng. You don't want this as it breaks your system.

I have some generic tips on how you could install Compiz.

1. Use Yast. Arn't you supposed to use Yast on Suse? I used Yast on Suse and have no idea what Smart Install is.
See if you can find a Compiz RPM and install that with Yast.

2. Just google for the error you get. In your case "no package provides libpng12.so.0(PNG12_0)"

3. Google on "Compiz Suse" to see some info/issues with it, and how others installed it.
