Trouble installing Centos 8

I'm trying to install Centos 8 on my old laptop and it sees the HDD but says there is no space but there definitely is space. Is there something I need to do on Windows to make the drive available? Thanks.

Use windows disk management to shrink the windows volume.]
disable secure boot, fast boot in bios, disable fast boot in windows advance power settings.

You need an unused disk partition, or space on the disk that is not partitioned. Windows normally leaves no empty partition or unpartitioned space (after all, why should it?), so, as colorpurple tells you, you have to shrink the partition that contains the Windows filesystem.

There are third-party partition programs that can achieve that. Perhaps the built-in computer management tool has that function as well.
