Trouble booting from Slackware Linux image on dvd

First off, let me explain that I am new to Linux. I am not new to computers, just the Linux os.

I downloaded the dvd iso image of Slackware Linux which came with 3 files.

I burned the first one as an image onto dvd using Nero. I can not get the computer to boot from it. It is set to boot from the dvd/cd drive in bios. I can boot from other disc, but this one will not. I am trying to install this to setup a gaming server. I am wanting to know what I am doing wrong?

Thank you for your time,
Jason Schoon

I amn not sure if Nero has a md5 checked but if not try this

basically you should be able to open the third mentioned file and see the hash or the md5 sum....then use nero or the verifier file to check they are the same.

It is possible you have a bad download and the md5 will help.

forgive me if you have already understood that point but it was not clear to me if you had or not.

2) if both are the same, there may be an issue with nero....put the dvd into your windows system and check that the dvd shows more than one file....

if it only shows one file ....blah blah.iso....then you have not used nero to burn the dvd iso correctly....

if this is whats happened try using a dvdrw....and check the documents on how to burn an iso please

good hunting

Ok, as for burning isos, ive burned several in the past. Regardless, I read nero's instructions on how to burn them to be sure. I did redownload Slackware as mine was corrupt. The new one is not. I checked the numbers and they match perfectly.

I burned the new image but it still will not boot from it. Any other suggestions? Oh and it does not show one file, it shows several folders and files. It calls the dvd SlackDVD.
