Trouble again! Installation - no modules!

I installed the gentoo kernel using genkernel. I've been following the Gentoo Installation Guide exactly, and now I find the following directory doesn't exist:

/lib/modules/<kernel version>/kernel

The directory /lib/modules/<kernel version>/ contains only a directory nvidia (I emerged the nvidia stuff).

Also, during genkernel build I noticed that it did not do the following after "make bzImage", which according to the Guide, should have been done:

"make modules"
"make modules_install"
"Moving bzImage to /boot/kernel-2.4.20-gaming-r3..."
"Building busybox..."
"Creating initrd"
"Build completed successfully"
"Please specify ......when customizing boot loader config files"

Sorry if I'm not precise enough, but like other newbies this is driving me nuts, some problem or the other
