Smile TrendNet TEW-424 USB Wifi and encryption - got it working

Since there hasn't been much discussion for the TEW-424 USB wifi dongle since last year, I just wanted to post some information I just learned while getting mine to work with Ubuntu 9.04.

I got it working OK by turning off encryption on my router. But trying to resume WPA-PSK TKIP encryption would not work. So I tried the AES algorithim setting instead of TKIP, on the router and on the TEW-424, and that DOES work.

As far as how I got it working initially without encryption, that is covered under a thread on the Ubuntu forum, posted back in 2007. Googling TEW-424 +Linux took me there.

I hope this information proves useful to someone.
