transparent terminals on the desktop in mint 16
 

I am looking to find a way to integrate the transparent terminals into my desktop. I am fimiliar with Conky and that you can make a terminal transparent but I dont want any borders showing at all.

Conky won't do it.
devilspie will.

But it's been awhile since I've used it. That was on gnome 2.x and I'm not certain if it'll work on Cinnamon, or whatever LM DE you are using.

What desktop environment and what terminal emulators?

Many terminals have configuration settings that allow you to enable transparency, depending on the desktop environment. I've never messed with borders.

you will find that the week of work put into that will "be cool" for about 15 minuets of using it

You will find that after using that for 15 to 20 min.
you will reset it back
using a Black background and green text is still one of the BEST set ups
the green CRT's of the 80's DID work well

Actually, I quite like my transparent terminals, but I do not set them to 100% transparency. I shade them to about 50 per cent.

To expand on franbell's post, if he does not mind, with many (most?) terminals, a right-click inside the terminal display will generate a menu that includes preferences. Transparency, colours and other things can be adjusted and changed there.

r-click in the terminal window or l-click on the menu on the top
someplace in that will be " edit current profile" or something like that
( different terminals do things a bit differently )
