transmission bittorrent in mint 7 is new to me, how do I make it work ? do I have to

Hi there, 24 hours into mint and the only problem is getting transmission to do ANYTHING. I don't know how to "switch it on", I don't know if I have to "interface" it with my browser (firefox), I don't know if I have to install certain packages to make it work. I've checked as many tutorials as I can find but still no joy.There must be some way to utilise torrent sites such as pirate bay, mininova, bitjunkie etc, but I haven't got a clue. Any help or suggestions, especially "step by step" guides would be most appreciated.

Thank you

Welcome to LQ

in firefox
Code:
edit=>preferences=>applications
look for
Code:
bittorrent seedfile
Code:
action => use transmission.
Click on a torrent, and transmisson will open

In transmission, goto
edit => preferences
in order to configure it
make sure the port is open on the firewall, and if needed on the router.

bittorrent how to

Hi there, still no joy getting bittorrent to play nice with firefox.

I tried Repos' suggestions and could find no seedfile in firefox, no

no bittorrent or torrent file either. I'm stumped. Any suggestions

would be gratefully accepted.

Download a torrent tracker and open the file with transmission.
