Touchpad/Usb Mouse no longer work

When I first installed Debian, my touchpad and usb logitech mouse worked great. I then lost GRUB due to an MBR overwrite from a windows installation so I was busy re-installing all that. Now, I finally get back into Debian and my touchpad doesn't seem to be responding anymore along with my usb mouse.

Which would normally be indicative of "problems" with the xorg.conf file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf). I can't suggest any solutions, unless during your repairing of the grub/MBR thing you've also re-installed the xorg and it didn't pick up the mouse/touchpad.

Either way, it's got to be worth checking to see if the system actually saw the hardware but it's commented out in the xorg.conf for some reason.

Others will probably be able to suggest proper ways of sorting this issue, but the xorg.conf is the first place I'd look.

John

p.s. I you're of an impatient nature, like me, you can just re-install the whole distro - yes it's a bit overkill/windowsesque way of sorting things out, but I found that it usually worked until I learned better.

What "all that" did you reinstall? Just GRUB or more?

After checking your Xorg.conf I would also check GRUB's setup. See if it's using some boot parameters that might interfere with usb and irq 3and 4.
