Touchpad on Asus g74sx

I have a Asus G74sx that I just installed Ubuntu 11.10 working but can't turn off the touchpad. Although it works, it is not seen by the operating system.

Any ideas?

First check your xserver log file /var/log/Xorg.0.log for any errors in determining touchpad, or at least any lines involving touchpad, then will be ideas.

Fix for touchpad

I had the same issue with my g74sx. This Touchpad indicator did the trick for me though. Leaving it here for reference. Also note, no errors were present in log.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:atareao/atareao && apt-get update && apt-get install touchpad-indicator
