totem problems
I am using Fedora 6
I can launch Totem and I can use Totem to listen to music, but when I try to use Totem to watch a DVD; I get a dialog box suggesting that something is missing from my Totem installation. What do I need to do to watch DVDs with my Totem installation on Fedora 6. Thanks. |
What you need is to tell us what that box says!
There are several things necessary to watch a DVD, and unless you tell us what the machine asks for, we can't tell you how to install it. Peace, JimBass |
Look at "How to install DVD playback capability" on http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Fedora_f...ack_capability
OK it suggests it's FC5, but it's FC6 -honest! |
totem erasing or scrambling burned DVDs
I've been able to play dvds for some time. But, I've had three instances where after playing a burned dvd, the drive would not eject until I started a full system shut down, and I after that I was not able to play those dvds on my computer or in a stand alone player again.
I'm using Ubuntu gnome and Totem to play the dvds. Let me know if I'm off topic and should post this elsewhere. |
You need the libdvdcss packages to watch DVD's. It's the thing that decrypts the stuff. They not included with the CD's cause of export laws or something. Just go get them from wherever you get RPMS for Fedora 6. Should be able to find them on http://rpmfind.net
Matter of fact, if I recall, first time to launch Totem, there's a dialog box that tells you what you are missing. But I'm sure most just burn through this screen and click next. I know I did, lol. Hope this helps. |
