Question Total Newbie needs Assistance

Hi I've just installed Mandrake 8.2 beta, Got most things working but I cannot compile things in KDE, I downloaded Karchiver, managed to get it uncompressed then uncompressed the Tar file but when I do the ./configuration command I get loads of errors and when I ssue the make command it says its not available and goes on about Bash, I'm sure I haven't given enough information here but if someone wants to extract the information from me , i'll keep checking back, TIA people

the output from the ./configure command is probably what we need to help you out - it gives any errors found with missing dependencies. in most cases, the make command won't work until the ./configure command has successfully run.

if you can give an output of the errors you are getting, it might help us determine what went wrong or what you need to install it. Always keep in mind to read the README and INSTALL files for tarr'ed packages...
