Total Linux Starter Need Help!

hey guys, i just had my hands on my first linux machine, it's a used one and supposedly runs both win98 and RH 6.0.
My problem is that first, i don't get the option to choose what OS i wanna run, second, it starts with Linux and after entering my login and password, im stuck,and don't know what to type or enter.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well after you type in your username and password you are in a shell. If you want to learn what to do get a book or google around for some basic linux commands. Try this one:

startx

It may surprise you. Or it may bash you!

At the prompt, type
man man
or
info info
or
man bash
and go from there.

Those are the good ones.
