Toshiba Wireless Keyboard with built in "trackpad" - Trackpad not working.

Hi Folks,

I'm not exactly new to Linux, however, I am no expert!
I have an Asrock net-top box, running Ubuntu 10.10 (fresh install). As this is a media centre PC (XBMC) I have a wireless (USB) keyboard with built in track pad. Both worked fine until I updated. Now the keyboard works fine, but not the track pad.
I have plugged in a wired USB optical mouse, and that also works fine, as do the other USB devices.
As far as I can tell, the problem lies in one of two areas:
1) The system update, or,
2) When I tried to install XBMC -
sudo apt-get install python-software-properties pkg-config
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc xbmc-standalone
sudo apt-get update
(This was as far as I got, and was unsuccessful)

Any help you wonderful people can provide will be greatly received!
