Topologilinux net probelms

Hey, this is my first time ever using linux and i downloaded topologilinux a few days ago to try it out. One of the probelms im having is when I type "Links" and from there try to go to a URL it says "Error, cannot find host". Anyone have any help or suggestions on this???? Thnaks.

In my humble opinion topologilinux would not be my first choice as a new linux user. Never the less -

Quote:

ifconfig

is used to check the status of, and to turn up/down network interfaces.

ping -c 3 www.google.com

is always handy to see if you have internet connectivity

dhcpcd

or

dhclient

is handy to configure a network interface -get ip address and such.

to read more about the above commands

do yourself a favor and try a more user friendly, mainstream distro for your first go at, what many of us believe, is the best OS option on this particular planet.

Thanks man, when i type 'netconfig' it asks for a "host name", and then a domain name, should these both be ip address'? Sorry for the newbie questions haha

Host name and domain name are text - no special characters. For example host name: pix6ie domain name: home.net
