Unhappy toolbar at bottom does not show newly plugged in items such as flash drive or cd

running mageia the toolbar at bottom of screen shows "in box" "time" "search box" browser but does no longer indicate anything when I plug in a flash drive or cd also there is no "safely remove" feature anywhere...any help is appreciated

I THINK you're saying you lost the system tray. If so:

Then search for and double click "system tray"
