too many hacks running now !?!

boy I wish I didn't end up at LQ every other day, but I don't know where else to turn...

been playing a little nethack for a few days, really was working fine.
today I do a little "work" to get pdftohtml working, and feeling good,
like this time I would get that amulet...

I had put a symbolic link in /usr/local/bin, so I didn't need to call on /usr/games/nethack, and tested it out earlier and it seemed to work.
(I think I just started it up to see if it would work and then quit it...)

so deciding to give it a shot I call up nethack, and I get the line
$ nethack
too many hacks running now

tried shutdowns, restarts, kills, system monitors, google searches, LQ searches, I removed the symbolic link, rpm -e 'd it, re-rpm -i , et al --
and nothing, or should I say the same something!

$ /usr/games/nethack
too many hacks running now

I don't know what is worse, playing nethack for hours, or not playing nethack.

please help me !!!

wait !!!

I figured it out.

in the /usr/games, the lib directory had a bunch of stuff in it that must have been starting trouble. I don't know how the trouble started...but the trouble is over (now that I $rm -rf 'd it and re-rpm'd) ...so I will just accept.

I sure feel stupid for posting this question -- but that will pass.

when I get that amulet out of the dungeon later tonight, everyone, will love me!

thanks all.
