Tomcat Installation

Hello Everybody.

I'm trying to install tomcat in openSuse for first time, and i would like to ask

if anyone knows something about the "uploadDir".

I'm very new in Linux and i didn't find anything in Google.

Also i would like to ask if anyone knows whats the difference between .zip

and .war files. Can i just rename a .zip file in .war ??

Thanx in advance!

uploadDir sounds like you're uploading files to the web server - is that correct? If so, have a look at for and example.

A .zip file is a compressed archive of files. It might have a directory structure, it might not. A .war file is a web archive and has an expected structure - have a look at for some more info.
