Tomcat 6 doesnt work

Hi! All,
Iam new to this forum. I installed tomcat 6 according to the article below:

But when I test from browser of another computer the page doesnt open.
Can anyone guide me on this?

When I try to restart - I get below error :

[root@localhost logs]# /etc/init.d/tomcat restart
/etc/init.d/tomcat: line 1: nit: command not found
