Lightbulb to upgrade or not to upgrade ??

hii
i am working on ns3.11 on fc11 ..i have been trying to install some python modules but so far have been only unsuccessful..i have been told fc11 is no longer supported but i can gain access to archives if i make changes in the repo file..even after doing so it doesnt seem to be working..
i am considering upgradation to fc14 or fc15 so that i wont face any more obstacles when i work on ns3(need to install modules for pyViz) but i jus wanted to confirm from you guys and not repeat the same mistakes wasting time..so wil it be better if i shift to fc14 or fc15?? and how do i go about doing this?? and should i take data backup??
plz advice me..
thanks..

The version of Fedora Core that you are using is out of date and no longer supported. You will generally have an easier time getting current software to work on 14 or 15.

Yes, I'd say that it is time to upgrade.

Yes, you should back up the data on your system first. (You should back up data on your system anyway.)

Only you can answer the question of what to back up. It's your data. If you're not sure, then back up your entire system.

Both are still supported and considered relatively current.

Since you are going to upgrade, I'd recommend the more current version (15) unless you have some compelling reason to prefer 14.

16 is out and will be considered stable in the near future, I believe.
