to do port forwarding for ssh in centos


On my firewall I have mapped external port 2022 with internal port 22 for my public ip.
But when i do #ssh <my public ip> 2022
It shows error that verification failed.

And since you don't provide ANY details about things, what do you think we'll be able to tell you?? You don't tell us version/distro of Linux, if this is a new problem or an existing one, what kind of firewall, or even what the exact error is. Without details, no one can help you...as you've been told MANY times before.

Since you're an RHCE, what diagnostics have you run so far? What is the output of running the ssh daemon in the foreground, in verbose mode? What does that tell you?

your syntax is wrong.

Code:
>ssh -p2022 user@IP
is the correct format, if you are using scp, then its -P not -p that should resolve the issue.

Is your firewall and the box you want to ssh into the same? Or is your firewall separate?
