To bridge or not to bridge (network)

Hello,

I use my linux machine primarily as a video and music server in my house. However, I do want to install games on the server and be able to play them on my client machine around the house. Currently I can play them well when my torrents are not active but as soon as they are they put too much strain on the network.

My question is:
Would it be better to bridge my connections or dedicate one connection to only my torrents and another connection to everything else.

I like the second idea but what do you think would offer the best results?

Also, I know its possible to set ktorrent to a specific connection but can I set everything else(internet, samba, etc...) to the other connection?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Need more information, what sort of connections do you have? and how many? Is there a reason why you want to bridge? bridging will expose all the computers that are connect to your isp and everyone else connected to the isp as well. Sounds like you really need a dedicated machine for your torrents, since your videos and games are for you only, I would have them on a different server and have no access from the outside world to them

Sorry for the very long time to reply.

My motherboard has 2 seperate lan ports. I partialy used your advice. I decided to not bridge and seperate my internal functions and external functions by using a firewall to block external traffic from my server and allow it to my torrents.

Its working well so far.

Thank you
