Thunderbird VERY Slow

I am using Linux LXE, Thunderbird is very slow and crashes often. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A few more details would also be greatly appreciated. What are you doing when these crashes occur? You can try running Thunderbird from the command line of a console and when it crashes you might get some informative error messages.

Almost everything I need to do, select a message to view, delete a message, scroll within the message headers. Each of these actions require minutes to accomplish, IF it doesn't give up and quit. Also, when I select any LINK within any email Firefox always goes to "The LXLE Desktop OS Support Options" web page never to the link address. Many thanks for your response.

Have you tried running Thunderbird from the command line as I suggested above? That may give you some insights into what the problem is.
As to the links, that would be a configuration issue. LXDE should provide you with some options about what to do with links. Try looking in the system settings.
