thunderbird and bison?

Hello all, i have been trying to find something on the thunderbird site on how to install this but to no avail. It doesn't gives you exact instructions on how to do this. Would any know how to install thunderbird on Mandrake 10.2 and SUSE 9.1 Also what is this whole bison thing? i remebered i try to install something and it told me that i didn't have bison install.

Thank you for your time on this matter.

OK, for bison you will most likely want to install the bison-devel rpm for suse. Then when you are compiling things it should see bison.

For thunderbird, just download the file and do this.

tar -zxvf thunderbird.tar.gz (insert actual filename here, including version number)
su
enter root password
chown -R root:root thunderbird/
mv thunderbird/ /usr/local
cd /usr/local/bin
ln -s /usr/local/thunderbird/thunderbird

Then close the terminal and launch the thunderbird command and see if it works.

Re: Thunder/bison.

Thanks for info. After futher investigation i move the folder to /usr/bin and create a application link to my desktop. It opens up just fine now thanks. Oh one more thing, is there a site where i can DL bison?

You shouldn't put applications in /usr/bin, it could mess things up, put it in /usr/local.

Anyways, download it using yast. Just download the bison-devel rpm through yast or from a suse mirror, you don't want a whole new version.
