Question This box just looks at me blankly!!!!!!!!

OK I have gotten redhat installed, I am not sure how but it can connect to the internet, I don't have any Idea why it can't see the win2k server it is linking through and I can't make it do a thing. Is there someone or somewhere I can learn the real basics of linux, like how do you install software and such? I am real new but would like to learn. HELP

If you mean you don't have a gui, login to your users account and type startx and start clicking around on things and see what happens.

To learn about Linux, the Rute User's Tutorial and Exposition is a great starting point.

# Redhat links
Red Hat Linux Manuals
Maximum RPM
rpmfind
Easier software management: APT-RPM - Red Carpet

# Redhat 8.0 configuration commands
Configure soundcard:
redhat-config-soundcard
Configure X server:
redhat-config-xfree86

well first off i need to know what version of redhat you are using I am assuming you are using rh8; or rh 7.2/3 so first off you just got rh installed, i'm guessing that you should first get your GUI up, try going to www.redhat.com and find help there
Google or any other browser is your best friend now to find information about an OS please flame me oldbies if i'm wrong :]

I am running rh8.0 psyche I got the gui up and running I am just unsure how all the packages work and what they translate to in dos speak. I am going to check and few of the links that fancypiper sent and see if I can get a better handle on the OS itself. Thanks for the info.
