Question thin client in linux

we are using ubuntu 10.04 for desktops, can we configure thin client by ubuntu server like windows server does. Microsoft license costing is very high we have to take license for windows server, CAL for clients & terminal server license per client. if it is possible with ubuntu server then we will purchase thin client hardware instead of new complete machine. thin client will not contain hard drive. it will save the money. kinldy suggest me the way how i configure terminal services, dhcp & pxe boot in ubuntu of any other linux OS.
All response appreciated.

Hello umalik712,

every Linuxcomputer running the X-window-system is a terminalserver, you'll have only to enable connecting over the network. So you may use Ubuntu-server.
As clients I'd use old PCs which are even cheaper than thinclienthardware. Be aware that in this case you'll need a small Linuxdistribution for the clients to get it running on old hardware.
Another question: which Programs do you want the users to run?

Ubuntu supports the Linux Terminal Server Project. It is easy to install and maintain, just have a look here.

Might look at 2x products and solutions. Much cheaper.
