"There is no MRL" when Xine opens. How to establish the link to the input drive.

When a cd/dvd movie is placed in my drive or an email clip of a windows wvm file is clicked on to open, I get "There is no MRL' when Xine window opens.

I can go back to the file manager and click on the video folder of a cd/dvd and select an individual file and it plays just fine, sometimes. However, I can't get Xine to play by hitting the buttons on its control panel.

I hear there is a link that needs to be established so it will work fine.

What is the link command to type in for Xandros Desktop Home Premium?

Thanks,

Walter Britton

The media tab of the xine settings will let you enter in your cd and dvd device paths, which are probably /dev/cdrom and/or /dev/dvd, but may be different depending on your system. You have to change your "experience level" in the gui tab to advanced or better before these settings will become visible though.

As for .wmv files, xine can play some of them, but it can't play them all. There are actually several versions of the windows media format (stupid windows), and the newer ones don't have support yet. mplayer or the vlc (videolan) player might have better luck.
