The selected partition already contains

whenever I try to boot kubuntu it starts up but gives me no login and says

" the selected partition (partition 3 of /var/lib/partman/devices/=dev=sda) already contains the following file system images

/ubuntu/disks/root.disk

Please uninstall before trying again"

I need help, I have no idea what this means and how to fix it.

Sort of a messy there isnt it? Did you try to install more than once?

Boot to the Live CD and take a look at the disk from there. Report back what you find.

Can I load it onto a flash drive instead? I have no CDs :(

Sure. The important thing is to be able to get to a point where you can look at the file system and see what's up with it.

I don't know how, all i've done is i installed ubuntu, which didn't work, then I think I deleted it and installed kubuntu with the download from the site, and tried starting it but got the aforementioned error.

Well, the error message seems to be telling you that something unexpected or that shouldn't be there is on the drive.

Tell me, were you doing a full install, which involves repartitioning and reformatting the harddrive, or were you trying to install Wubi? According to what I've been able to turn up in a web search, this sounds like it might be a Wubi error.

Can you try booting and then take a digital camera picture of what the failure screen looks like? Maybe that will give us a hint. Also, if the boot process give you a choice between Windows and Ubuntu, could you post a picture of the screen for making that choice?

I just used the Wubi thing, but I had previously tryed installing with the ubuntu option, and i might have uninstalled it, but afterwards I tried installing with the kubuntu option and it installed it but i get the error message mentioned above, and I have no digital camera....and my phone has no camera...lol.

EDIT: i'm going to try deleting my folder for kubuntu and reinstall, i'll report what I find out.

EDIT!!!: SUCCESS! It turns out I hadn't deleted the Ubuntu files and my PC was pissed about it, I just deleted my ubuntu folder and reinstalled kubuntu. It worked! I am currently typing from the kubuntu web browser! I love myself for my idea, and I hate myself for not uninstalling before installing...
Thank you for your help.
