the problem about the compilation of the httpd


First , I'm from china !my English is so bad ,and if you can't understand my meaning what I want to express !please sorry !!


I want to install the apache (httpd) by the way of compile ! when I executed the command "./configure ....." ,it had no happened and it is so successfully !after the configure command, I executed the command "make",it appeared some error (please look the picture)!what's the wrong ?
who can help me resolve this problem !!
In my options ,may it lack of other package ?

did you install gcc, openssl package.
if not try this
yum install gcc+ openssl

So far nobody uses httpd-2.3.8.

The hits from Google are mostly about errors, when others try to build it.
"Everybody" uses httpd-2.2.17 for the future experimental OS.
Example : Fedora 16
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu.../source/SRPMS/
> > httpd-2.2.17-10.fc16

o ,my os is rhel5!!what you said is meaning that the httpd 2.2.17 can not be installed to the rhel5!!
ok, i will try to use the other version httpd !!
and say sorry to you because i forgot to describe the kind of the os!!

As knudfl said ,the httpd of the version 2.3.8 can not be installed to the rhel5 !I try to install the version 2.2.17 httpd and it is succeefully !!
the problem is solved !!
