there is a link here (main menu) for downloading Linux. You can also find links to all the major distributions at http://distrowatch.com
Common advice is to start with anything in the top ten on the "hit list" at distrowatch----exception: Arch is not recommended for beginners

the generic procedure:

Download an ".iso" disk image
Burn to CD
Boot from the CD
Follow the on-screen instructions

hi shud and welcome to the forums!

first of all, since the Linux-distro-world is soooo vast, you need to tell us what do you use your computer for: working, graphical processing, browsing the internet and watching multimedia content, gaming, etc..., so we can address you properly.
For example, what is the result of this test??

Have fun with Linux!
