The Gnome Panel does not load
 
I can't get the Gnome Panel to load in Ubuntu 8. When I log in I only see the background image and nothing else. I can't access any menus or a terminal. I have no idea why it's doing this.

Sounds like a bad install to me. Check your install medium to make sure it's burned correctly and try reinstalling.
