the disk space get full because of a log file. why????

hi. I am new to linux. i am working with fedora 10. i am working with the http and the mysql servers. from time to time, i found that the mysql stop working. since I am new, every time i just reinstall the linux.
this time i tried to see the problem with the mysql that prevent it from starting. i looked by accedent in the log file of the mysql and i found that the mysql couldn't start because he couldn't create file because the disk space is full and i know that i am having more that 5 giga free? then i looked at the disk space using kdisk free. i found that the device have no free space. when i tried to search the device for the large files, i found the file /var/log/httpd/error_log has a size of 6.1 GIGA. what is the problem?
i don't think i have done something wrong, because i am working with the httpd server without errors?
by the way i enabled the sudo for the apache. since the application iam trying to develop doesn't need to connect to a network. i used the php because of the simplicity.
i enabled the sudo by editing the sudoers file, not by enabling suEXEC.
what is the problem?
thank you in advanced.

A good start would be actually looking at the entries in error_log (and then posting a few here if you still need help).

oops. i have deleted the error_log file. any way, if there is an error in the configuration, the error_log will be generated again. i have touched the file.
any way, i have a question for you. i enabled sudo for apache server using sudoers file by adding entry for apache and commenting the default requirrety. what do you think, because i read that there is some directive called suEXEC work for this purbose.
