That CDROM
 
I have just downloaded mandrake linux 9.2 and i have tried to install it, but iam having problems. When i try to boot up from the cd i get a system failure. So i tried the floppy boot up, i got to the next stage and when it tried to the install i get an error saying "That CDROM disc does not seem to be a mandrake linux installution CDROM Retry with another disc?". PLease help me!

Have you checked if the disks were downloaded correctly? Transmission errors happen from time to time and result in broken images. Please visit http://www.md5summer.org/ and get the program, then visit the site you downloaded the images from and there should be a file MD5SUMS in the directory you got the images from. Download it, it's very small. Then open it. There are sums of the images you have. Then use md5summer to calculate the sums of the images you downloaded. The sums should be equal. If you get a pair that's not, you need to download the image again (and then check the sum). It looks that the sum of your 1st image is incorrect.

Also make sure you burned the images, not the image files. Look at the 1st cd. If there's one file on it, it's wrong. You should have many files and directories. You should burn the images again, make sure to use the option to burn the image, not the image file. (The options are different in different burning programs).
