I recently installed vmware. I got instructions how to install the Vmware tools. One of the steps says make sure your guest operating system is running in text mode. How do I enable this? I'm running Red Hat 9.

Open command shell
Become root
init 3

(or at least that's how Non-RH distro's do it)...

Actually I think you can just log out of your desktop (I know this works in gnome) and it will take you to the command line.
