Text based Ubuntu install

I apologize if this question is a repeat. I looked here and at other places including Ubuntu and couldn't find the answer.

Is there a way to run a text based install of Ubuntu. I have a 166MHz PII with 6.4 GB HD and 32MB of RAM. I can't afford anything else, so if someone knows what or where the answer is, please show and/or tell.

Thanks in advance.

Ubuntu is a package and installs a gui based on Gnome so the answer is no. If you have a pcmcia network card then you can use the netinstaller then you will probably be able to use a light weight gui like icewm or similar. Alternatively if you don't have broadband then get the first 2 disks for a Debian stable install.

yes, at the boot screen type server and that will give you a text based install. Then you can install flux, xubuntu-desktop, or your prefered WM. I have an old laptop that i installed ubuntu on with similar specs as yours.
