Post Test Page Error

Given the following information, I get the Fedora test page rather than the one I created. Why?

Virtual host config:

Document Root/var/www/intranet

Order deny,allow
deny from all
Allow from 172.16

Permissions on the directory:
drwx-x---2root root 4096 2008-09-14 14:12 intranet

Permissions on the file:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6 2008-09-14 14:12 index

the entire config would be useful, but it would seem that you're not hitting that virtual service. I would suggest deleting the /etc/httpd/conf.d/welcome.conf file which is the part of the configuration which shows that welcome page (presuming I have remembered the setup correctly) However just creating that virtualhost config won't make it get used. You also need to enable the "NameVirtualHost *:80" (or similar) directive in httpd.conf and restart apache, and, of course, use the appropriate hostname in your request.

that directory will also want to be readable by the apache service user, probably "apache".

By the looks of the information you gave us, I see only "index." Rename this is index.html, just to be safe. Also, verify what file is being loaded for the test page, and rule that out if you can. It may be a wrong path that you need to correct also.
