I wanna implement a GNUPG program which is a encryption program. Therefore i need to download the files. But the terminal wont download. It just show blank lines. This is what I typed in the terminal.

haloiuy(at)ubuntu:~/GNUPG/libassuan$ ftp ftp(dot)gnupg(dot)org
Connected to ftp(dot)gnupg(dot)org.
220-Welcome hacker!
220-This is an FTP server of the German Unix Users Group. It is operated by the
220-GnuPG and Mutt hackers and therefore you should report any unusual problems
220-to ftpmaster(at)gnupg(dot)org. Housing and traffic is sponsored by OpenIT GmbH.
220-The server contains cryptographic software and its use might be illegal in
220-your country. However, as far as we know, only a very few countries have
220-restrictions on the use of cryptographic software.
220 Service ready for new user.
Name (ftp(dot)gnupg(dot)org:haloiuy): anonymous
331 Send e-mail address as password.
230 User logged in, proceed.
Remote system type is UNIX.

I have the same problem with this site (just tried). Log-in works, changing directories work. A simple ls doesn't.

Although you might have a good reason to download all the packages in the specific directory (different versions of the same file), you could use your browser to download a specific version of the file.

Another option that works (assuming you do want all the bz2 files in that directory): wget.

The following seems to work:
wget -nd*bz2
The above will download all files in the directory you are standing in.

Hope this helps.
