Terminal Program - Not Super Usssser
 

Hello all,

I would like to bring up a terminal window in KDE/Centos5 but it always presents me with a box for super user mode which I don't want and I don't want other general user to have.

If I don't give it the super user password and hit enter the termial window goes away.

Is there anyway to just get a non super user terminal window for a general user.

Also, how are you attempting to open the terminal?

The shortcut you are using to open a terminal window is one for a root terminal (same thing as if you had a terminal and did su)

You need to find the shortcut for a regular terminal/console/cli. The application you would most likely use is konsole, xterm, or maybe eterm. I don't have either KDE or Cent here in front of me so I'm sorry I can't just tell you exactly where it is. You just need to look harder for one of those applications that will open a regular terminal without root access.

In the kde or gnome menu, drag & drop the terminal icon onto the screen or panel. Right click on it and select properties.
Select the "Application" and click on the "Advanced options" button. Make sure that "run as another user" isn't selected.

Another option is to simply add a new launcher and have it launch konsole or gterm or whatever your favorite terminal program is.

Found a non super user terminal icon in Kmenu > System > Terminal

This one doesn't ask for the super user password.
