Angry Terminal probloms in ubuntu

Hey everyone i'm new here, and to linux. I installed ubuntu yesterday and am really getting used to it. But today i was following some commands from ubuntu guide and all of the sudden i was getting this message: E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. I retyped the command and got the message again, and now thats the only thing that happens when i try to run anything from the terminal. When i try to run the dpkg command nothing happens Any help is greatly appreciated
