Unhappy Terminal name related problems

OK this is my first post so here we go ...

When I try to run pine as a non-root user i got :

Terminal type "xterm", is unknown.

I tried to change terminal name but no luck...

And one more similar problem when i try to run joe editor :

Processing '/usr/lib/joe/joerc'...done
Sorry, your terminal can't do absolute cursor positioning.
It's broken

Both programs works smoothly with root account.I think the problem *might* be about termcap spesific but its a wild guess and i dont have another idea.

So anyone got a little idea about my problem?

Thnx in advance
