Question terminal commands guide


Hi,
am new to linux, i just installed ubuntu server 8.10 LAMP. i would like assistance on were i can find a guide on how to use ubuntu as a server

I'd guess you have a shell called bash that you call the terminal command. Most web references are geared toward someone who knows them. They are a reference for trained persons. For a new user they could be used but are not easy to study from.

8.10 is 6 years old. 8=2008. 10=October.

Get a more recent version!

The latest version of Ubuntu LTS is 14.04 (although 12.04 is still supported). You should upgrade immediately, as running an unsupported version leaves you open to numerous security holes!
