Termial umber in linux

here what is the meaning of pts/1 and how can i find that pts/1 is related to my system !

i am performing my all actions inside one shell .

and i find in your link that , every thing is situated under , /dev/pts folder ,

i reach there and find that , there are

0 , 1 , 3 , ptmx

i can understand why 0 & ptmx are there but please tell me why 1 , 3 are present there !

when every thing , under /dev folder is file than why pts and ptmx is situated under /dev folder .

i am using ubuntu 12.04
