telnet not working

hi guys,

i am having probs with telnet
it was working before a reboot but after that telnet gone.
in /etc/xinetd.d/ i have krb5-telnet
after starting and restarting the service xinetd
/sbin/chkconfig --list telnet,
/sbin/chkconfig --list telnetd,
all shows
error reading information on service telnetd: No such file or directory
service telnt start
shows
telnet: unrecognized service

can anyone show me a way through which i can get out of this

more than that

my hosts.deny and hosts.allow files in /etc have no additions

i gave telnet 127.0.0.1 and got

Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1).
Escape character is '^]'.
