telnet backspaces

I telnet from my linux box into a remote linux box. However, once in the telnet session, I can no longer hit the backspace button. Is there I can configure telnet so I can use the backspace button? thanks.

once connected to the remote host, type:
Code:
stty erase <backspace>
<backspace>..meaning the backspace key (or any other key you want to use to backspace)
you can probably make this permanent on the remote by editing the .bashrc file (if SHELL=bash) ... or .profile etc.
