in my network linux8.0& win98& win2000
i install samba server to share the files one to other it s work fine
when i telnet win98 to linux 8.0
its gives connection refused error 100024
whats behind this eroor
i thing the telnet server could not start& also i add the service to bootup start still the error is coming

pl help me & how to start manuly telnet services

your telnet service is probably disabled that's why. To enable it...go to /etc/xinetd.d and edit the telnet file. In there change the line "disable = yes" to "disable = no". Then restart the xinetd daemon by doing this:

service xinetd restart

Now this will enable telnet to start up whenever you start your computer. However, most would agree that you should not telnet but instead use something more secure like ssh. Hope that helps..

btw, it's not linux 8.0, it's redhat 8.0 probably
