Telnet


I was wondering how I can set up telnet so i can access it from outside my network.. I try and it keeps saying COuld not open Connection to.....
any idea's?
if the computer is on the network it works fine...

First off, you really shouldn't use telnet, should probably use ssh instead.

Ok, what I'm thinking is that you're on a network behind a router?
You probably need to set up port forwarding on the router, so it knows what computer to send outside requests to. Telnet uses port 23, SSH uses port 22.

ok thx for the info, is ssh easy to leran? thats the only reason i was using telnet, is cause i use it for some of my classes and i kinda know it.

Ya, once you get it setup it's the exact same. Just install and run the daemon on your box (there's a good chance it's already there, actually), and if you need a client for windows, try Putty SSH (good FREE telnet/ssh)
