Task switching in KDE
Is there a command similar to alt-tab in windows. I am using kde 3.1 in slackware 9.1, I like to run games in windowed mode, is there a hotkey i can switch applications so mouse will leave the game window?

yes it's alt-tab and alt-shift-tab
not working? maybe you have changed something in keyboard shortcuts |
Ok, well neither alt-tab or alt-shift-tab works for me. I will look for options to turn it on, or someone reply with option location.
Edit: Correction alt-tab and alt-shift-tab works for applications on the desktop running, I am trying to run a quake3 engine game in windowed mode, these two hotkey combonations do not work to get outside of the game and to other applications. |
Try CTRL + TAB to switch between desktops and put quake on a desktop by itself and your apps on another. You would have to have show apps on all destops (or whatever it is called in the control center) unchecked for it to work and the SHIFT key works with it as well to go backwards through the list.

Also if it's another desktop yu can go to it with ctrl-F1, ctrl-F2 etc.
Check out your keyboard shortcuts for more. |
Ok I unchecked the "Show windows from all desktops", and put all apps on same desktop. Ran game from next desktop, ctrl-tab and ctrl-f# work outside of the game, but do not work from within the game running.

That's not surprising. Most software like that captures most if not all keystrokes.
