When you open a konsole(in KDE), select settings, configure konsole, schema then scroll down to 'transparent'(click it) then check the box just below it "set as default schema'. Click 'apply' and 'ok' .
Close the konsole. Next time you open it, it will be transparent.

Download aterm and when you run it use the following switches:

aterm -tr -tint red

Go to settings on the konsole, and then to Configure Konsole & select (shade to) you can make it any colour you like.

i am not sure but i think u can access konsole in gnome, just type it there.

konsole can let u customize the opacity and color of your translucent windowed console, make sure u take a look at the configure konsole menu

You want aterm for that. Don't use konsole just to get coloured AND transparent terminals, it will drag in a huge number of libraries and processes that you don't need.

glibc is always installed on every Linux, it's needed for applications to function.
